marker TOPIC: Empowering Healthcare with Patient Lifetime Clinical Data

Bart Carlson is a proven business leader who has helped large enterprises adapt to changes in market dynamics, capitalize on innovation, drive revenue, and reduce operational costs. He has led his company, Azuba Corporation (formerly called Napersoft), into an elite provider of Communications Platform solutions that improve operational efficiency in document creation, management, and distribution to everyone in the USA and beyond in 86 different languages.

Bart has also fueled a mission to improve health outcomes throughout the United States by serving on the HHS Blue Button Committee 2010-2013 with 67 members (e.g., 66 doctors and Bart). And, while serving on the Committee, Bart and five (5) of the doctors led the effort to get a new Federal “Rule” enabled in the Office of Civil Rights to empower patients with access to their digital health records on January 1, 2013.  Subsequently, Bart joined with a number of other congressional efforts to include patient access rights to their clinical health records permanently with the creation and eventual approval by Congress and the President on December 13, 2016, of the 21st Century Cures Act.

Once these foundational patient rights of digital access to their health were completed, Bart then led his team to design and develop a new national Health Platform that automatically aggregates, cleanses, stores, and enables Providers (Doctors/Hospitals/Clinics), Payers, and Patients with access to the patient’s clinical records from all of their health providers.  In addition, the Health Platform also enables Patients/Caregivers with secure, real-time access via approved Mobile Health Apps.

Rami Ajjuri

Startup Founder and Mentor

marker TOPIC: A hundred ways to die in healthtech (as a startup).

Rami is a neuroscientist turned entrepreneur who has been on many sides of the medtech table – he’s worked in venture in Spain, biz dev and strategic partnerships for tech accelerators in the UK and EU, corporate strategy & innovation in NY, M&A in Germany, venture development at a venture studio in the Bay Area, user experience product mgmt in SF and Austin, and has been an entrepreneur and advisor across the US, UK, EU and ME. Throughout these roles, he’s learned that the path to success is (mostly) knowing how not to die along the way.

In this talk, Rami will share the hard lessons for partnering, piloting, scaling, and being acquired by major multinational medtech and tech companies such as Siemens, Boston Scientific, GE, Microsoft/Nuance, Google, as well as hospital systems like HCA, Providence Health, Cleveland Clinic, and many others. We’ll make sure to leave time for questions and for others to share their learnings on how to survive long enough for your product and company to find the right market, users, business model, and partners to succeed.
